The VIII Ministry of Defense Golf Classic (MIDE), that benefits the Dominican Association of Wives and Officers of the Armed Forces, was a success achieving its goal of raising funds thanks to the solidarity of competitors and companies; collaborators of ADEOFA will be able to donate household items to victims of Vicente Noble, a municipality in Barahona, after hurricane Matthew. The activity took place at the Dye Fore golf course at Casa de Campo, La Romana, gathering 152 golfers playing in Scramble mode, with Cledy Córdoba serving as technical director, and logistics by Fernando Collado. Part of the contributions will be applied to providing two houses to two soldiers, fully furnished in San Juan de la Maguana and Santo Domingo, as part of the initiative of improving the living conditions of the military and their families.

As for the tournament, the selection of the DR Air Force, led by pilot Colonel Fernando Hernandez, who has won first place seven years in a row, took the lead last first Saturday in Casa de Campo with 748 hits. The Air Force group, Andrés Polanco- Lino Guerrero, 59.5 strokes; Rafael Vargas-Julio Dujarric and José Monagas-Fernando Álvarez with 605 hits conquered categories A, B and C respectively.

Second place went to the DR Army, led by Colonel Kalil Haché, with a total of 762.5 hits, with the following couples standing out in categories A, B and C: José Hernández – Miguel Tejada, José Montero – Sócrates Cuello y Francisco Torres – W Shine, with 60, 60.25 and 62.25 hits. DR Navy, took the third place, with a total of 775.5 hits, led by Javier Rosario, with Rubén Polanco – Samuel Holguín, 61.25  hits; Edwin Dominici Rosario – Emilio Hasbún, 63.5 hits and Joaquín Peignand Ramírez – Alejandro Mora with 65.75 hits in categories A, B and C.

The National Police settled for fourth place, led by Federico Felix, with a total of 795 hits; Julio Gómez – Karina Sánchez in category A with 61 hits; Ramón Campechano – Nuñez Malena in B with 64.75; and José Castro – José Jaquez in C with 69 hits.

The awards ceremony was headed by Lt. Gen. Ruben Dario Paulino Sem, minister of defense and Lesby Lizardo de Paulino, president of ADEOFA, attendees enjoyed and danced with the orchestra Oleaje and with the stellar presentation of merengue artist Fernando Villalona.
