On the 13th and 14th of February, the Hogar del Niño joined by the Casa de Campo community will celebrate their 18th annual Hogar del Niño fundraising weekend – and tomorrow, Wednesday February 4th, the celebrations start early with the opening game of the Hogar del Niño Polo Cup.
With 4 participating teams, formed of enthusiastic and skilled polo players of the Casa de Campo and Santo Domingo polo-playing community, the Hogar del Niño Polo Cup is set to be a tournament to remember, with games scheduled from tomorrow, Wednesday February 4th through to Friday the 13th Saturday the 14th, when the finals will take place at 2:30pm and 4pm.
As always everyone is very welcome to come along and cheer on the teams as they thunder up and down the Casa de Campo polo fields – so take a look at the schedule below and we look forward to seeing you there!

The Hogar del Niño fundraising weekend is the primary fundraising event for the Hogar del Niño, the Dominican Republic’s largest educational and daycare center located here in La Romana. Throughout the weekend which will take place here in Casa de Campo, a variety of events will be on offer – with something for everyone (big and small, old and young), so whether you’d like to peddle out on the bike marathon, play tennis, tee-off on the golf tournament, or simply take part in the homes and gardens tour – don’t miss out on this chance to support a great cause and to have a great time. With “free hugs” for RD$100, their own hashtag (#soypbo) and even a little fancy dress… the 17th annual Hogar del Niño weekend proved to be just as fun, fresh and innovative as we have come to expect from the charity that educates more than 1500 children at their school and daycare centre in La Romana.
The Hogar del Niño is a children’s daycare and educational center for over 1500 children, located in La Romana town, just outside of Casa de Campo. Children from as young as just a few weeks old up to 18 years old are cared for and educated daily, from as early as 5:30am and staying as late as 7pm.
The organization also provides special schooling to over 75 hearing impaired and blind children, as well as a vocational school where over 235 students receive classes in different areas like: sewing; industrial preparation, installation and electrical maintenance; plumbing and management of computer office programs.
