ZOO Luis RivasOn Thursday October 9th, the Altos de Chavón Cultural Foundation at its campus in Santo Domingo, celebrated the opening of a new art exhibit “ZOO” by Luis Rivas… and it is outstanding. ZOO Luis RivasIn addition to being visibly fascinating and beautiful, ZOO by Luis Rivas is also an artistic representation for the conservation of the environment, something which is more important now than ever before. ZOO was born from the desire to contribute to the conservation of the environment. So using recycled materials, with the idea to immortalize utensils and other scrap parts such as cutlery, glass base plates, wire and metalwork, Luis set out to create pieces of art. “I wanted to connect the ecological theme with animals to create a stronger impact on the protection of vulnerable species these days,” Luis Rivas explained of his work. Luis Rivas is a graduate of the Altos de Chavón School of Design and has dedicated his career to design, specializing in metal works. Among his achievements is his international success as the designer of decor pieces for Phillips Collections. Having opened on Thursday evening with a celebratory cocktail, the exhibition will remain from until the 18th of October 2014 at the campus of Santo Domingo School, located on Gustavo Mejia Ricart #50, Naco, open daily from 9:00am to 7:30pm. Take a look at these images, you can see for yourself that this is an exhibit worth seeing. The following collection of images were taken during the opening of ZOO by Luis Rivas:
