Great news! The Fundación MIR’s “Family Weekend” is coming up, and we’ve got all the details on this fantastic event! So save the date!
On the 16th of August, the Fundación MIR will be celebratinging their “Family Weekend”, a fundraising event that includes all kinds of fun activities, and all the profits go to the foundation who provides education and other basic necessities to children and families in need here in the Dominican Republic and more specifically in the local La Romana area.
The events will kick off at 9:00 a.m. with a tennis tournament at La Terraza Tennis Club, with that prime example of Casa de Campo’s Sporting Life being immediately followed by another, a golf tournament at the La Romana Country Club course teeing off at 1:00 p.m.
The next event won’t take place until 8:00 p.m., where a fancy party with dinner and dancing will be held at Minitas Beach, hosted by Pamela Sued – dress code is “tropical chic”, and awards will be given out for the day’s tournament contestants. The dinner is once again being sponsored by the Casa de Campo hotel, so we can expect a magnificent buffet of the finest cuisine the Casa de Campo kitchens have to offer… and after dinner you can expect to dance the night away to a Dominican Orchestra band! Ohhh and there will also be a fun silent auction with the chance to pick up some really great goodies – while also digging just a little deeper into those pockets!
But the festivities won’t be over just yet, with an after party taking place right there at Minitas Beach, with international performer DJ Gringo being flown in from Miami by generous event sponsor American Airlines.
So we implore all of you to come along to these fantastic events, it’s for a good cause – and a good time! Of course, if you can’t go for any particular reason, there’s no better time than now to donate to the fantastic cause – education, which the Fundación MIR strives to provide to more and more children every year.
The Fundación MIR is a non-profit organization which works to provide education to the children of the greater La Romana area, who are most in need. They run 3 schools; the MIR Esperanza (boys vocational school), the Escuela Técnica Vocacional Fundación MIR (girls vocational school) and the Primaria MIR (infants school).
