Ovarian Cancer National Alliance

The Joan Kidd Ovarian Cancer Awareness Cup, a golf tournament started by Joan Kidd, a physician and two-time ovarian cancer survivor, will be coming to Casa de Campo next spring.

The tournament will take place from the 7th to the 11th of May next year, with tournament rounds played over two days on the Teeth of the Dog and Dye Fore golf courses here in Casa de Campo The tournament offers divisions for single and mixed-team golfers, with competition at low gross and low net. Joan Kidd, founder of the tournament, said the following.

Joan Kidd

“Experiencing the impact of this disease personally, as a two-time ovarian cancer survivor, and professionally, as a physician, I feel a close and personal understanding of how devastating this disease can be. It has also shown me there is a great need to increase public awareness, promote early detection and support families touched by this cancer. I am proud to work with the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance to help achieve these goals, and as a golfing enthusiast, I can’t think of a better way to achieve this!”

– Joan Kidd, MD

To qualify to play, contestants must hold a USGA Handicap Index issued by a USGA compliant handicap service provider, a state/regional golf association, or an International Golf Federation. Awards will be given to the top three places in Single Low Net and Mixed-Team Low Net, and the Cup that gives the tournament its title will be awarded to the winning individual low gross as well as the winning mixed-team low gross.

The tournament is being celebrated to raise funds for the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance – a powerful voice  for everyone touched by ovarian cancer. The Alliance connects survivors, women at risk, caregivers and health providers with the information and resources they need.
