Insel Air Aircraft in Aruba

Curaçao-based airline InselAir will now be flying a second direct route to the Dominican Republic, arriving at La Romana, starting this Monday, July 7th.

Aside from their usual Punta Cana route, InselAir is now opening an 80-minute, nonstop flight to La Romana, every Monday, starting from July 7th.

From the Casa de Campo – La Romana International Airport, tourists from Curaçao (and any other destinations, for that matter) will have transport to Casa de Campo, Punta Cana, and the various attractions the eastern Dominican Republic has to offer, such as the National Park of the East, which contains the beautiful Saona Island, as well as its adorable baby turtles.

The route, is of course, however, two-way, meaning that those of us here at Casa de Campo can also hop onboard and arrive an hour and twenty minutes later in Willemstad, Curaçao, where one might delight in visiting Curaçao’s gorgeous Baya Beach and Cas Abou Beach, or perhaps visit historical sites, such as the Curaçao Synagogue.

So, to those of you planning to come straight to Casa de Campo from Curaçao, welcome to paradise! As for those of us here in Casa de Campo and the Dominican Republic looking for a vacation destination just a short hop away – get googling Curaçao now! (Also see below for a brief overview.)

Even more good news? Return flights start at around US$200, which plus taxers and fees will set you back just under US$400 – not a bad price tag for an adventure to another island.

Curaçao

Curacao

Curaçao is an island in the southern Caribbean Sea, off the Venezuelan coast, that forms part of the Dutch Caribbean, a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It has a population of over 150,000 on an area of 444 km2 (171 sq mi) and its capital is Willemstad.

While tourism plays a major role in Curaçao’s economy, it is less reliant on tourism than other Caribbean countries. Most tourists originate from the Eastern United States, South America and the Netherlands. It currently leads the Caribbean in cruise tourism growth with 610,186 cruise passengers in 2013, a 41.4% increase over the prior year.
