golfers Casa de CampoThe mission of the Hogar del Niño in la Romana is to “make a difference in the lives of the children in La Romana and its surrounding areas, providing them with the tools to make a better future for them and the community.” golfers Casa de CampoThis is no easy task, and yet when last weekend on Saturday the 15th of February, more than 100 Casa de Campo golfers showed out to take a swing for the cause, every single one was contributing to help the Hogar del Niño achieve this goal – a goal which by the way they are already achieving. Every year the Hogar del Niño now graduates more than 25 students, who then go onto continue their studies at colleges across the Dominican Republic, and then in turn take jobs that enable them to lead productive and successful lives. This is already happening, the future is already in progress. So although the day was fun and light-hearted – full of hugs from numerous volunteers donated at RD$100 a time – the work that is being done by the Hogar del Niño is very real, and is making a real difference to our community and to the country. Teeing off around the La Romana Country Club course at both 9am and 1pm, the philanthropic golfers played in a scramble format and win or not, all had a great day – before returning later for the dinner-dance party and the prize-giving.
