This month the Altos de Chavón Regional Museum of Archeology is hosting a very special “cinema forum” – with José Fernández de Castro, who will be presenting 2 short films as well as giving us an insight into the film-making process.
José Fernández de Castro is currently in Casa de Campo with his girlfriend Tatiana Ortiz-Rubio, who is an Artist-in-Residence at the Altos de Chavón School of Art & Design. This program invites artists from all over the world for a three and a half month residence, towards the end of which they open an exhibit to showcase their work and also must give a talk at the school, this emphasizes the importance of culture exchange between these artists and the students, which is extremely beneficial for the education of both parties. This year the Artist-in-Residence exhibit will open on Thursday the 14th of November at The Gallery in Altos de Chavón.
Also an artist himself – a filmographer, José Fernández de Castro will be presenting 2 short films; “Black Moon” and “Life Gets Better”, to be screened at the Altos de Chavón Regional Museum of Archeology on Thursday October the 31st – this month’s “cinema forum” event. As part of the gathering, José will explain the filmmaking process, and talk about how digital media has affected this, as well as his experience at RED Studios in Los Angeles, California.
While in Altos de Chavón José is also giving workshops in filmography for the students of the Altos de Chavón School of Art & Design.
