golf casa de campoDriving for education! Teeing off for change! Putting for progress! By taking part in the Fundación MIR Family golf tournament last Saturday the 10th of August, the 125 philanthropic golfers were contributing to a cause which is making great strides towards creating a better future for the children of the Dominican Republic. Teeing off at 1pm around the La Romana Country Club course, the golfers, playing in a “scramble” format, were not only competing to be crowned the champions (some more seriously than others), but were also making a difference in the lives of the more than 1,500 children the MIR schools in La Romana currently educate. golf casa de campo The sun shone brightly on the cause and the golfers enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of excellent golf, interspersed with some relaxing pitstops – with a taste of Ron Atlantico and Chivas Regal 18. Perfect accompaniments for a round of golf. philip silvestriAmong the many players were the presidents and representatives of the many sponsoring companies, such as Chiara Borrelli, First Vicepresident and General Manager of Scotiabank, who earlier that same week presented the Fundación MIR with a donation of RD$1,000,000, as well as Philip Silvestri, President of CasaLife magazine. Later that evening, at the dinner-dance celebrated at Minitas Beach (photos soon), the winning teams of the scramble competition were announced to be:

Winners: Fidel Alonso, Jorge Diaz, Antonio Alma & Modesta Alma (52.1) Runners-up: Rafael Zapata, Margarita Zapata, J. J. Suarez & Ginger Suarez (54.1)
