Until next year! A summer of excitement at the Casa de Campo summer camp comes to an end.

As summer is coming to an end, so does the Casa de Campo summer camp, which yearly provides the children of Casa de Campo with entertainment, fun and healthy distractions during their three month break from school. This year, about 1500 kids participated in the camp, having a wonderful time enjoying all the sports and activities the Casa de Campo Resort has to offer. The children were divided into three groups: Toddlers ‘n Casa (1-3 years old), Kidz ‘n Casa (4-7 years old) and Casa Tweens (8-13 years old), each enjoying a different series of activities scheduled for each day to make it as fun as possible and to make sure that every shild, from the youngest to the oldest, would have an absolute blast. Each day began with a welcome circle, where with face painting and costume contests, the kids would start getting motivated for a day.

After this the toddlers would stay at the camp, where they were able to develop their arts and crafts skills, enjoy playground games, watch movies and even have fun on a bouncy castle! However, it was the oldest ones (as always), who had the most exciting of the activities prepared for them… The children of Kidz ‘n Casa and Casa Tweens were able to go out and about, exploring the endless entertainment opportunities of Casa de Campo, keeping themselves quite busy and active throughout the summer. They practiced tennis, received taekwondo lessons, had fun at the pool and at the beach, where they felt the thrill of the banana boat; soccer tournaments were held, as well as hockey and billiard contests and other competitions, and all this accompanied by good music and cheerful dance moves of the supervising team, whom the kids lovingly called “Aunts” – doesn’t that make you wish you were a kid again!

Here, Madeline Paris, who this year graduated from the Abraham Lincoln School and worked at the summer camp before setting off to university, tells us about her experience.

“It was a fantastic experience, even though all our energies would be absorbed by the kids in a matter of seconds with their running around, playing and dancing; it was all worth it because we could see that they were indeed having a memorable summer. It didn’t matter how exhausted you came into work, you would forget it the moment you heard Shane, our little Spider-Man, with his monster stories and love of super-heroes or the adorable Sienna, who would only stop crying when you showed her food (that was so funny!) and whose favourite spot to eat was our laps. I know all the kids went home satisfied and were always keen to come back the next day, as I’m sure they are to come back next year.“
