costa luminosaOn Monday the 11th of February 2013, a group of generous Casa de Campo villa owners, as well as members of the La Romana community enjoyed a fabulous evening aboard the Costa Luminosa cruise ship – docked in the Casa de Campo – La Romana port, for the organisation’s annual fundraising gala dinner.  The Orfanato Niños y Niñas de Cristo orphanage in La Romana, not only cares for 184 little boys and girls, but also now educates them through to 8th grade – thanks to the love and support of the community (and a few celebrities – such as Mark Anthony), who were on this occasion all thrilled to be given the opportunity to dine aboard the elegant cruise ship, whilst also contributing to this great cause. costa luminosa Dinner was served in the Costa Luminosa‘s private “Club Luminosa” restaurant, a delicious set menu based on the menu typically served every Monday evening (open to Casa de Campo villa owners and residents – click here for details) and were serenaded by a beautiful live piano performance. The atmosphere was both glamorous and friendly, with many guests of different nationalities and backgrounds – united for a common cause; the children of the Orfanato. d-snowLooking perhaps a little out of place was a group of young men – in caps, who turned out to be Diogo Snow, a Brazilian rapper whose goes by the name “D-Snow“. “D-Snow”, in the Dominican Republic to perform in both Punta Cana / Bavaro and Santo Domingo heard about the Orfanato dinner (via Casa de Campo Living I’m sure) and brought his crew along for the evening in support of this great cause! The following collection of photos were taken aboard the Costa Luminosa during the dinner for the Orfanato Niños and Niñas de Cristo on Monday the 11th of February 2013:  marc anthony orfanato la romanaThe Orfanato Niños y Niñas de Cristo orphanage was founded in La Romana more than 16 years ago by Sonia Hane (“mom” of the Orfanato), and is a wonderful project which not only educates but also provides a loving home and family to the more than 200 orphans who live there. In recent years, the Casa de Campo community has supported the orphanage with numerous fundraising occasions (see below) and more recently was visited by famous singer, Marc Anthony, who following a very successful fundraising campaign with his foundation “Maestro Cares” came to break ground at the orphanage’s new location – which will consist of comfortable rooms, a kitchen area, laundry service, dining room, library, chapel, shops, classes, computer rooms, baseball for future little leaguers and education in modern art.
