On Monday, August 20, 2012, the Maestro Cares Foundation based in the US, co-founded by world-wide famous singer, song writer and salsa artist, Marc Anthony with entrepreneur Henry Cardenas, hosted a marvelous fundraising event in which they raised over US$100,000 for the development of a new building for the Orfanato Niños y Niñas de Cristo here in La Romana!
The Maestro Cares Foundation in collaboration with Blackberry, Goya and the Dominican Republic’s Department of Tourism, hosted the first Chicago fundraiser event with the attendance of 200 guests at the Sofitel Water Tower. With special efforts made by Marc Anthony, co-founder of the charity, as well as many other celebrities, this wonderful event raised over US$100,000 which will be used to complete the construction of the Orfanato Niños y Niñas de Cristo orphanage’s new center of education.

Marc Anthony visiting Orphanage Niños de Cristo, La Romana
Marc Anthony visited the orphanage in La Romana in December 2011, when he took the opportunity to interact with the many boys and girls who live in the orphanage, getting to know them, and seeing for himself their immediate need for a new education center, for the more than 200 boys and girls cared for at the orphanage. A need, which thanks to this very generous donation will very soon be fulfilled!
“I am confident that the impact of Maestro Cares foundation will be felt by the children in this country for many years to come. The construction of the new building will start in October, the completion of this final phase will be made directly by the foundation (Maestro Cares Foundation) and its estimated that it will be ready in the following 7 months (May 2013). ”
— Sonia Hane, Founder of the Orfanato Niños y Niñas de Cristo orphanage
This new building will in May 2013 become the new learning facility for the more than 200 children living at the Orfanato Niños y Niñas de Cristo orphanage – which will become the first of (hopefully) many territories in Latin America which will benefit from this great initiative started by Marc Anthony and Henry Cardenas.
Congratulations!
And many thanks to the Maestro Cares Foundation and members of the Casa de Campo and La Romana communities – who throughout the years have also contributed to the welfare of these wonderful children!
