As Tropical Storm Isaac approaches the East coast of the Dominican Republic, potentially arriving tonight as a category 1 hurricane, in addition to heavy rain and high winds of at least 60mph, a storm surge of up to 5ft is being predicted by the National Hurricane Service – and so in a bid to limit damages to yachts in the Marina Casa de Campo, the IBC Shipyard has throughout today and yesterday been putting it’s “Hurricane Plan” into action.

“We are warning all Casa de Campo Owners, Captains & Crew members to take all necessary steps to remove their vessels out of Marina Casa de Campo facilities for protection.”

The IBC Shipyard, the largest shipyard in the Caribbean, boasts an impressive 25,000 square foot dry dock – which is currently filling up with numerous yachts from the Marina Casa de Campo, being evacuated from their docks to limit potential damage from any storm surge which may occur with the arrival of Tropical Storm Isaac tonight or tomorrow morning.

Fortunately for yacht owners in Casa de Campo, the IBC Shipyard is incredibly the ONLY shipyard on the whole of the Hispaniola island which was constructed with a system of rings on the floor, to ensure the security of boats stored in the dry dock area – an essential safety precaution to limit damage during the passing of a tropical storm or hurricane.

“Our emergency operations are led by our best technicians with full adherence to the rules and conditions that secure the safety of our vessels. At IBC, service and safety is a priority. At this time, our “Hurricane Plan” is already well underway and over 40 yachts have already been secured in dry docks.”
