After finishing its 2011-2012 sugar milling season with a bumper crop of 183,488 short tons of refined sugar, the Central Romana Corporation has delivered more than $700 million pesos in bonuses to all of its employees, surpassing by more than $70 million the amount distributed in bonuses last year – making it the largest amount ever given out in it’s 100 year history!
The Central Romana Corporation, which has recently celebrated its 100th anniversary with a successful end to this year’s milling season with record breaking production, has made valuable contributions to the economic and social development of the Eastern region, including it’s bonus incentive along with many other benefits that allow its employees and families to have healthcare coverage, education, housing facilities as well as the possibility of acquiring meats and vegetables at subsidized prices.
The wonderful job done by the many employees during the 2011-2012 sugar milling season, has helped the company build schools in the agricultural areas for the worker’s children, as well as more than 1,500 urban homes for its employees as part of its housing program.
Other goals fulfilled this year were; the construction of the new and modern medical center building, the “Centro Medico” in Central Romana, La Romana which was recently reinforced with the construction of more medical sub-centers and medical mobile units in the agricultural areas to guarantee daily assistance without cost.
On the 21st of November 2011, the Central Romana Corporation inaugurated it’s new state of the art health facility ”El Centro Medico” in a ceremony led by President Leonel Fernandez. The new “Centro Médico” which represented an investment of 1.2 billion pesos for the company is equipped with three floors offering state of the art patient care with 84 beds in comfortable private and semi-private rooms as well as four surgical suites.
