dominican dancingOn Saturday May 19th 2012, the Leading Hotels of the World group celebrated the end of their “2012 Sales, Marketing and Distribution Conference” in Casa de Campo with a truly Dominican Extravaganza!  Having spent 3 days expanding their knowledge on hospitality marketing within the luxury segment attending various lectures and workshops including “Search, Content, and Devices: The Three Pillars of the Online Travel Research and Booking Experience” presented by Rob Torres, Managing Director for Travel at Google and the presentation of the new Leading Hotels of the World website, by Saturday evening the top global executives of the “Leading Hotels of the World” group and the Sales and Marketing Directors of it’s member hotels were ready to let their hair down – Dominican style……

The evening started with cocktails at the La Caña Restaurant and Lounge by Il Circo located in the central Casa de Campo hotel area, where attendees sipped on freshly prepared mojitos and sampled some typically Dominican picadera, such as sweet plantain wrapped in bacon. ted tang From cocktails it was a short stroll to the Flamboyan Conference Center where guests enjoyed a formal sit down dinner catered by the Beach Club by Le Cirque, before the lights dimmed and a troupe of Dominican dancers burst onto the stage! Performing a new and exciting version of the classic “Kandela!” Dominican music and dance show normally shown in the Altos de Chavón Amphitheater from December to April, spectators were memorized by the sexy “maracas” performance and a high energy replica of the Dominican Carnaval scene – with all the traditional characters!

Before long the Dominican dancers in their glitzy range of bejeweled and feathered outfits welcomed the attendees onto the dance floor for merengue and even a Dominican-ized version of line dancing!
