Last Friday the 25th of November, Casa de Campo villa owners, Mario and Monica Galleto hosted a magical Piano concert by Maria Pia Fazio de Carlo to raise money for the Hogar del Niño’s “Sport and Cultural Project.” As a Casa de Campo villa owner and resident, Mario Galleto has always been a great supporter of the Hogar del Niño, a children’s daycare and education center in La Romana town and so when Mario heard about the Hogar del Niño’s “Sport and Cultural Project” he was keen to get the project started! And so to kick-start the fundraising Mario offered to host and organize a Piano Concert with the internationally reknown Pianist Maria Pia Fazio de Carlo, also a Casa de Campo villa owner and resident.

The by-invitational-only evening took place at Mario’s Casa de Campo villa last Friday the 25th of November, when the event’s VIP guests enjoyed a a welcome cocktail, whilst they perused the silent and live auction items, the piano concert by Maria Pia, followed by the live auction led by myself Rebecca Hughes and Tiberio Avanzini and finally a wonderful buffet dinner enjoyed in the villa’s moonlit garden. Maria Pia, who has graced the modern world with countless performances, such as orchestral concerts with the Filarmonica di Bologna, with the National Orchestra in Russia; duets in Washington D.C. with the renowned Japanese pianist Ryoko Tajika-Drei, enchanted her Casa de Campo audience with a program of Fryderyk Chopin and Frank Listz.

Following the wonderful piano performance, the live auction began, which included items that had been kindly donated by Hogar del Niño supporters of the Casa de Campo community and included wonderful pieces of art and paintings, jewelry and cigars. All money raised during the auction will go directly to the Hogar del Niño towards the Sport and Cultural Funds – so thank you to everyone who got involved and spent money during the auction!
