Talent, creativity and hard work are three requirements needed in order to succeed at the Altos de Chavon School Art and Design and as key elements of Elizabeth Peguero’s personality, they made her the perfect candidate for the “Leading Hotels of the World Bookmark Contest”, from which she ultimate came out as the winner!
As a graduate of the Altos de Chavon School Art and Design, the “Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo” as well as the Parsons School in New York, in addition to her experience at Casa de Campo for the last 13 years in the “Graphics In House” department, it is no surprise that Elizabeth was the winner of this internal competition designing bookmarks to be presented at The Leading Hotels of the World’s Bookmark competition.
For more than 80 years, The Leading Hotels of the World organization has represented the best and most exclusive hotels of the world, an organization which Casa de Campo is now a member of – thanks to its exemplary standards of excellence.
Since her pasion involves creativity and since she gained a scholarship in the past in order to study what she loves, this competition motivated her to be an “instrument” for those with scarce resources who want to get into Altos de Chavon School Art and Design. How? Easy, for every bookmark which is sold to the hotel’s guests, there will be contributions to create much more scholarships for them.
Elizabeth presented three original pieces, with the collaboration of Argenís Lebron a recent graduate from the Altos de Chavon School Art and Design. The bookmarks focussed on Casa de Campo’s most attractive areas; such Altos de Chavon, The Marina Casa de Campo, El Polo, and Playa Minitas, each containing extraordinary images and brief accounts of their history.
In this first competition, Elizabeth won a prize of US$250, a special mention on her record and the resort’s newsletter and one of her pieces will soon be competing in the Leading Hotels of the World final contest. This organization’s purpose is to put these bookmarks on the directories located in the dormitories in order to promote the winning hotel – let’s hope Elizabeth’s design wins the overall prize, that would be excellent promotion for Casa de Campo!
Congratulations Elizabeth! Below are the pictures of this excellent project:
