Touch down! Daily American Eagles flights land in La Romana!

On Tuesday this week, the 5th of April, the very first American Eagle daily flight from Miami, Florida touched town at the La Romana-Casa de Campo international airport and was greeted by a traditional “Water Salute” to inaugurate and celebrate the beginning of daily flights between the 2 cities. 47 passengers from Miami arrived on the super modern jet Embracer 145 – the first American Eagle flight outside of the United States to be using the ERJ-145 airplane turbines.

The first daily American Eagles flight is inaugurated with a ‘Water Salute’ with powerful jets of water from Central Romana’s fire brigade trucks to create a cascade of water, which the jet embracer rolled through shortly after touch down.

Following their arrival, the passengers and crew descended the steps of the plane to music from a local Dominican folklore band with tropical dancing and were invited to join the American Airlines executives and other local dignitaries in a toast to the start of the new daily American Eagle flights! What a touch down! The surprise toast and inauguration ceremony was led by Luis Emilio Rodriguez, Director of the International Airport La Romana-Casa de Campo, Fred Cleveland, Chief Operating Officer of American Eagle and Claudio Silvestri, President of Premier Resort & Hotels. With enthusiasm and pride Luis Emilio Rodriguez told the gathered crowd “This direct flight from our airport terminal to Miami, on a daily basis, helps to strengthen business relationships, travel, tourism and leisure, but also reflects confidence in La Romana as a destination and the capacity of our facilities as an international airport.” Also present were, Mr. Oliver Bojos, Director of American Airlines for the Dominican Republic, Sergio Lopez and Deborah Rodriguez executives of American Airlines and American Eagle, as well as Mr. Daniel Hernandez, General Manager of Casa de Campo Resort and members of the Association of La Romana-Bayahibe Hotels, among others. What a wonderful occasion and what fantastic news to be celebrating!

The airline American Eagle, which is affiliated with American Airlines will now be operating daily flights between La Romana-Casa de Campo and Miami, excellent news for not only tourism in the La Romana-Bayahibe area, but also for the residents of Casa de Campo and La Romana, who will now be able to travel to the States hassel free.
