On Friday the 18th of February, the Hogar del Niño fundraising weekend began with a tour of the Hogar del Niño facility.

The Hogar del Niño School Tour was an absolute lovely way to spend our morning and an even better way to kick off the fundraiser event, which allowed us to comprehend why in the world are we/should we make a charitable donation to this wonderful institution.

Very matter-of-factly the answer was right in our faces, as soon as we stepped into the school we were greeted by Boston Native volunteer, Jade Franco and the high school students who led the tour in English.

Among the people on the tour were members of our Casa de Campo community, just learning about the Hogar amongst others who have been supporting the school for years; Dominique Donzier , UBS Bank representatives Gregorio Echevarria, Jose Cacicedo with their wives along with Andrea Mastai, Michael and Monica Belancourt, with many other Casa de Campo villa owners and resort guests.

As usual (with almost everyone I meet) I bombarded these children with questions and I just loved the way they were excited to talk about their school and apparently every corner of their school reminded them of some anecdote from their “youth”.

Everyone’s favorite room was the crib room, a huge part of the school where babies and toddlers are cared for, while their caretakers sing songs and play games. There, Patricia Moscatello, who was also taking some of her friends on the tour, told us she had volunteered as an English teacher years ago, which I found truly exciting.

But honestly aside from the crib room my most memorable experience was extracting the sentiments of love and loyalty these children hold for their school, now I can definitely agree that they are the most complete childcare facility in the country.

Very matter-of-factly the answer was right in our faces as soon as we stepped in and were greeted by the Boston Native volunteer Jade Franco and her 10th grade English students, who led the tour in…you guessed it, English.

Among the people on the tour were members that were contributing for years to the school from Dominique Donzier , UBS Bank representatives Gregorio Echavarria and Jose Cacicedo and their wives, , among many other Casa de Campo Villa owner and resort guests.
