The Marina Casa de Campo is no stranger to millionaires, billionaires, celebrities and their Mega Yachts – and this past weekend the RONIN, previously owned by Larry Ellison, the world’s 5th richest man was spotted docked nearby the Victory Club.
The photos of the RONIN shown in this article were taken by me in the Marina Casa de Campo on Sunday the 5th of June – whether or not the Ronin has since left Casa de Campo we do not know……but if you are a yacht enthusiast you can always take a stroll down the Marina Casa de Campo’s Paseo del Mar and find out!
Although not a conventionally ‘pretty’ yacht it is certainly a mega one – the Ronin is 191.9 feet long, has an outdoor basket ball court, 2 tender boats, 2 jet skis, a garage for a Hummer, outdoor dining area with a hot tub, sleeping space for 10, crew of 13 and a full lounge set (whatever that means!)
The RONIN, a Lurssen Yacht built in 1993, was initially named IZANAMI, which means “She who invites you to enter,” but was allegedly changed to RONIN after it was revealed that IZANAMI when read backwards reads ‘I’m a Nazi.’
The RONIN was previously owned by Larry Ellison an American business magnate, co-founder and chief executive officer of Oracle Corporation, a major enterprise software company. As of 2011, he is the fifth richest person in the world, with a personal wealth of $39.5 billion. [Source: wikipedia.org] After the RONIN, Ellison was the owner of the RISING SUN – another Lurssen Yacht, especially designed to be the world’s largest yacht (more specifically to be bigger than Paul Allen’s the Octopus), but since discovering that a 453 foot yacht is too large to dock in most of the world’s marinas, he has since sold the RISING SUN to David Geffen.
So as the RONIN is no longer owned by Larry Ellison we do not know which billionaire was visiting Casa de Campo this last weekend – if you know who it was please leave a comment below!
Other Mega Yachts spotted in the Marina Casa de Campo recently are:
• The ‘A’, a 394ft Mega Yacht, owned by Andrei Melnichenko was spotted in the waters outside of Casa de Campo in January of this year.

• The Octopus, a 431ft Mega Yacht owned by Paul Allen, who was allegedly here in Casa de Campo with fellow billionaire Bill Gates in July 2009.
