That’s right, its party time! Ok, while mainly catering to the tourists (aka: hotel guests), these little festivals are always a great time. The hotel goes all out with the food selection and the ambiance is of course a lot of fun. I’m posting a list of the up-coming festivals (though as they are subject to change you may want to check out the official Casa de Campo website for all the latest news.

I see them setting up this weekends’ Mexican fiesta, and since Casa de Campo’s El Sombrero is one of my favorite restaurants you can count on me heading over to give it an objective review!
If you go to El Sombrero, you MUST try the different margaritas – especially the Guavaberry and passion fruit margaritas (yummy yummy yummy!!). Sometimes they serve the margaritas in these beautifully gi-normous glasses, that require a little extra effort to lift, but you are always nicely rewarded for the effort.
Then there is the food… fajitas, quesadillas, enchiladas. For those of you who may think that this is just a high class taco bell, you’ve in for one heck of a surprise. The chef (Carlos) can whip up among the most authentic tasting Mexican delicacies that you can imagine – he has some serious skills, believe you me.
As for the ambiance, it is fantastic whether you go early enough to enjoy Altos de Chavon as the sun begins to set, or later in the evening as the moon lights up the square, it is a wonderful place to enjoy with friends, family or both. Sing along with the mariachis… oh the memories one makes.
Viva Mexico! eehhhhh, I mean, Viva El Sombreo!
One last thing – to get you into the mood, they welcome you with a nice shot of tequila! Salud!
