Wednesday June 17th – Wednesday June 24th: The VI International Festival of Theatre (FITE). The festival will include a total of 61 plays, from 8 different countries; Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, Canada, Ecuador, Spain, Guatemala, Venezuela and the DR. The festival opens on the 17th of June with the presentation of “La muchacha de los libros usados,” a play from Ecuador, which will be performed in the Teatro Malayerba. The festival will be spread out across the city, taking place in 15 different halls; Teatro Nacional, Palacio Bellas Artes, Teatro Guloya, Teatro Luna, La Cuarta Espacio Teatral, Las Mascaras, Gran Teatro del Cibao, Centro de la Cultura de Santiago and theatrical stages in barrios in Santo Domingo. Thursday June 18th and Friday June 19th: “Flores Arrancadas a la Niebla” – a play presented by the Spanish theatre group, Teatro Albanta. The show sstarts at 7pm in the Sala Ravelo of the Teatro Nacional. For tickets call 809-687-3191

Every Thursday from June 18th to Thursday July 30th: The annual Summer Jazz festival at the Casa de Teatro – shows will be held every Thursday starting from Thursday June the 18th and ending on Thursday July the 30th and will take place at the Cristobal de Llerena hall, with a giant screen outside in the Cafe Teatro. Performers are coming from Cuba, Argentina, the US, France, Spain and the best of the DR for the 10th year of the festival. This year the festival will be dedicated to Guillo Carias, recognized as a living legend of jazz in the Dominican Republic. Tickets cost RD$350 for hall performancea, and RD$200 for the Cafe Teatro.The schedule is:

Saturday June 20th and Sunday June 21st: Coppelia – a children’s ballet performance, at the Sala Manuel Rueda of the National Music Conservatory on Cesar Nicolas Penson. Performance at 7pm on Saturday and at 5pm on Sunday.

Thursday June 25th – June 18th: Voltio and the show of the Wonderful Dogs – at the Coliseo de Boxeo Carlos (Teo) Cruz in Ensanche La Fe. A spectacular display of trained dogs – a fun show for the entire family!

Saturday June 27th: Extreme Air Freestyle Motocross – Motorcycle stunts at their most daring at the Olympic Stadium, acrabats, fireworks and the incredible death-defying motorcycle stunts will delight audiences. Coming for the show are Mike Meztgler, who jumped the fountains of the famous Cesar Palace in Las Vegas. Also Jimmy Fitzpatrick, Taka Higashino, who won medals at the ESPN X Games and the Red Bull X-Fighters. Also Julian D’Ussea, Matt Buyton, Nick Dunne, Dan Pastor, Scotty Stephens and Curtsty Demon.
