The Third Annual Texas Hold’em poker tournament was held this past Saturday the 28th of November.
The tournament, organised by Casa de Campo villa owners Tato Caceres, Ivonna de Caceres, Alfredo Alonzo and Patricia de Alonzo, was held at the Casa de Campo yacht club and began around 7pm . With 39 players and a strong contingent of ‘spectators’ otherwise known as ‘drinkers’ it was a classic Casa de Campo night, full of food, drinking,plenty of laughs and for a lucky few ended in the winning of a nice sum of money!
The evening started with the 39 passionate, determined and excited poker players at 5 tables, which after several hours of tense rounds, with the ‘blind’ being increased every half hour, the 39 players were whittled down to 10 – the last 2 players from each table.
And so at around midnight, the ‘final’ began, a battle which was still being fought at 3am. In the end, the last two players; Claudia Olavarritea and Maurizio Bellia, made a deal to end the game – Maurizio although not defeated, allowed the first place to be given to Claudia – as she had more chips.
At the «winners» table there were: Claudia Olavarritea, who won first placeAs I was too sleepy and definitely not a poker winner (or even a player) I left the festivities early, so thank you to Patricia Proaño, who provided us with the names of the winners!
