Last Friday the 7th of January, the evening before the Feria Barlovento, the first Cafe de la Leche of the year 2011 was graciously hosted by Casa de Campo resident, Annie Paniagua. (Debajo en Español.)
Annie welcomed Casa de Campo’s ladies to her beautiful Casa de Campo villa with its stunning view over the Chavon river to the Marina Casa de Campo and the Caribbean sea, where over 100 ladies from Casa de Campo and La Romana gathered to enjoy the sunset, a few drinks and picaderas. With many visitors still in Casa de Campo for the Christmas holidays it was a more varied group of ladies than normal and it was nice to see so many new and/or different faces enjoying the Cafe de la Leche as well as donating much-needed milk for the Hogar del Niño.
Every month, the non-profit organization Hogar del Niño organizes these “Cafe de La Leche” gatherings for the ladies of Casa de Campo, they are essentially a fund-raising event, in which anyone may attend in exchange for a donation of dried milk, baby formula or cereal. The Cafe de la Leche is of great importance to Hogar del Niño, as the milk and formula donated during these events make up about 40% of what is used each month.
If you would like to participate in future events, please remember that they normally take place on the first Friday of every month. The location of the event changes every month – so please check back here to keep up-to-date or contact:
