On Saturday the 12th of June, Altos de Chavon was taken over by more than 50 merchants selling jewelry, art, clothes, purses, food and more!
The Casa de Campo Living Bazaar, organised by ourselves, Casa de Campo Living and Altos de Chavon, was a success beyond our wildest expectations! We estimate that there were at least 500, possibly even 600 people who passed by, shopped, had a bite to eat and enjoyed a drink throughout the afternoon.

Making up the eager crowd of shoppers was of course many Casa de Campo residents and their families, as well as families and friends from La Romana, hotel guests and some others who had travelled all the way from Bayahibe, Santo Domingo and even Bavaro especially for the Bazaar!

Selling their products in the Bazaar were several of the businesses from Altos de Chavon: Everett’s Designs selling their incredible hand-crafted jewelry, Emilio Robba who were offering a 10-15% discounts on items in their store and the Museo Mundo del Ambar showcasing pieces from their Larimar collection.

As well as shopping, there was plenty of other entertaining activities going on – the Casino Diamante Dominicus Bayahibe had a Black Jack table and were giving away chips and bottles of wine to the best players (so no real gambling). And to keep the kids busy, the Museo Arqueologico did face painting and clay scultpures (photos of this to follow).

Several businesses were selling food and drinks, such as Onno’s who brought a BBQ and were selling hamburgers and hotdogs, which were so popular they actually sold out before the end of the event! Papa Jacks were also selling food and drinks, all of which were very popular and it was a great opportunity to try items from their new menu.
The Onno’s bar BBQ with tables in the shade of a tree was the perfect spot to enjoy a cold beer and good burger after some strenuous shopping!
Also involved in the Bazaar were three charities: The Fundacion MIR, the Hogar del Niño and Tienda Batey in Altos de Chavon, all these fundacions were selling products to raise funds for their prospective charities.

These girls were very excited by the hand made jewelry made from recycled materials such as bottle tops, plastic bags and even old CD’s.
Many more businesses were involved in this event than the handful I have just specifically mentioned, I will be publishing more photos and more information about everyone involved soon!
