pokerLast Saturday card sharks from around Casa de Campo converged on Altos de Chavon’s newest local hangout, Sangria, for a little gaming and gambling. The poker tournament, which marks the second such tournament, is an event that is put together by fellow residents Patricia Proaño Alfredo Alonzo, Ivonna Sosa and Ramon ‘Tato’ Caceres. To keep things light hearted, a generous portion of the proceeds went to «El Hogar de Ancianos» in La Romana. Anyway, we were 20 players. The game started at 8:45 p.m. at Sangria Bar, taking place in their lounge area,  and ended just after midnight.  With US$100.00 buy-in, the play was friendly, but competitive. After over four hours of grueling play, the winners emerged.   The winners were:
  • 1st place – Leito Proaño
  • 2nd Place – Leopoldo Proaño
  • 3rd place – Claudio Espinal
  • 4th place – Alan Wood
  • 5th place Sergio Llach
For those who where not into poker, or potentially loosing their shirt, there was also a Rummy Hand table for the none poker players, whom came out with their shirts still on their backs and smiles on their faces. What made the evening such a great success was that after a night of fun between friends, everyone came out a winner and the only ones who lost, where those who could not participate. So now you know – at the next Poker Tournament, it will be your turn to ante-up!
