This week’s ‘Only in the DR’ is taken from the Santo Domingo Aquarium.The above sign translates as: “The balance of the coral reef ecosytem; Look at the difference between the two displays. What do you notice?”
And here is the display:
Now I’m no marine biologist, but it certainly looks like as far as marine life goes there is not much in either tank, in fact if you look closely there are only three visible fish in each tank! It would appear that the only notable difference seems to be that the ‘balanced coral’ looks dirty, dull and to be honest rather ugly – maybe that’s the point!
