A simple trip to Santo Domingo, is always an incredible sight-seeing tour – you never know what weird, wonderful and potentially dangerous transportation solution you will encounter!
When I first spotted the vehicle in the above photo I couldn’t figure out what it was – from a distance it looked like a mis-shapen white lorry (truck), which was bulging at the sides. Once we ventured closer, I discovered that it was in fact a pick-up truck laden with so many white bags that it was twice, if not 3-times its normal height. Seriously this cargo was so dangerously over-piled that the truck was practically wobbling and it actually looked as though it was about to topple over to the right. You can just imagine this truck being loaded: ‘Si, ta bien dame otra.’ (Yeah, it’s alright, give me another.)
In the end (after a few photos) we proceeded as quickly as possible past the truck of wobbling death (on the left hand side), we survived and carried on our journey!
Unbelievable what you see in this country! Only in the DR!
