The Fundacion MIR, the charity founded by Lian Fanjul, which helps local La Romana children and adults with education and healthcare, is hosting another fundraising event this week – although unfortunately in Miami.

Here is the Fundacion MIR’s press release on this exciting event:

MIRMIA 2009, a night of high fashion, design and sheer entertainment to benefit Mission International Rescue Charities

WHO/WHAT: MIRMIA 2009- hosted by Lian Fanjul’s Mission International Rescue (MIR) Charities- is fusing the most rousing elements of South Florida’s thriving social scene with philanthropy at the heart of the night, at the historic Moore Building. The event will mark the commencement of a signature tradition for MIR with the presentation of the first ever MIR Humanitarian Awards. In addition, the International charity has set a record-breaking goal for the night to raise $ 150,000.

With VIP entrance and private table service, the elite and celebs will be found on the first level in the luxe VIP Lounge hosted by the leader of legendary style Tiffany & Co. For added eye candy amidst the bling, Emilio Robba will adorn the entire venue with floral sculptures that unite nature with art and whisk away everyone’s imagination. The Enzo Enya Garden, adjacent to the building, will also be open for those who would like to enjoy the cool November breeze, and refresh themselves with Ron Atlantico cocktails.

As the evening ensues, everyone’s attention will be further captivated with surprise ‘cirque’ performances by Animate Objects. Home Miami & Home Ft. Lauderdale Magazines’ interactive interior design competition “Make Room Miami” will be conducted on the first and second levels, with interior design competitors in the likes of Hernan Arriaga, Emilio Robba, Nathan Galui and Jason Champion, both from this season’s Design Star on HGTV, and more, competing for a grand prize. Attendees will not be left out of the décor decisions, as the public will serve as judges for the night. The glam factor will then catapult, as those present will be privy to the first and never-before-seen Hannah MacGibbon Collection for Chloe during an exclusive fashion show featuring her Spring 2010 line. A luxury silent auction will be ongoing throughout the vibrant festivities in the Garden Design Atrium with items ranging from a private home cooked meal by celebrity Chef Michelle Bernstein, Casa de Campo first rate vacations, Tiffany & Co. jewelry, as well as VIP sports’ packages on behalf of the Florida Marlins and the NY Yankees. All entrance tickets and proceeds from the night will benefit MIR Charities.

WHEN: Thursday, November 5, 2009
7:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.

WHERE: Moore Building
4040 NE 2nd Avenue
Miami Design District, FL 33137

WHY: MIR has produced its most significant event in the United States in the past 20 years with profound entertainment merit, aligning with fashion forward brands, unique designers, artistic and innovative creators, as well as luxury purveyors to execute it in true Miami style, all in hopes to better serve the charities’ mission and to reach the record breaking quota set for the evening. Partners for the event include, CasaLife Magazine, Emilio Robba, Heavy Air Media (HAM), Home Miami & Home Ft. Lauderdale Magazines, MGS Communications, Ronen, Ron Atlantico, Shaw-Ross International Importers, The Dalmore, and Tiffany & Co.
