Local La Romana and Casa de Campo charity ‘The Hogar del Niño’ has entered into a contest ‘The Classy Awards’, the ‘Oscars’ of the philanthropy world and they need your help to be crowned the ‘Charity of the Year,’ which if they win could get them as much as US$12,500 to improve and advance their program for their hearing-impaired children.
The Hogar del Niño has been caring for underprivileged children, youths and families and what better way to celebrate this achievement than by winning ‘Charity of the Year 2011!’

About the Hogar del Niño The Hogar del Niño, in La Romana town is a children’s day care and education facility, which cares for more than 1500 children every day, with many children arriving as early as 5:30am and not leaving until 7:30pm – making the Hogar del Niño much more than just school or care centre, in many ways it is like a second home. The Hogar del Niño provides education, food, clothing and even health and dental care to the lucky children enrolled on its program; more than 200 babies, 600 toddlers and more than 500 children who attend their full-time school.
