Helados Bon and Jumbo donate to the Fundacion MIR!

The Fundacion MIR puts smiles on the faces of children by providing them with opportunities for their future through education at their schools the MIR Esperanza (the boys vocational school), and the Escuela Tecnica Vocacional Fundacion MIR (the girls vocational school). Recently the Helados Bon and Jumbo brought even more smiles to the faces of these adorable little ones with a generous donation of ice cream (from Helados Bon) and a shipment of books (from Jumbo.)  Helados Bon, the Dominican Republic’s largest and most popular ice cream company brought enough ice-cream for ALL the more than 1,000 boys in the MIR Esperanza school to enjoy  – that’s a lot of ice cream! As you can imagine the boys loved the ice cream treat, whilst enjoying a short break from school work!

Meanwhile, Jumbo the local supermarket in La Romana donated several boxes of books to be used in both the MIR’s school in their Libraries. Both these stories are excellent examples of how YOU can help the Fundacion MIR – although there is a huge need for money for renovations, food, new school equipment and much more, donations of any kind are always VERY welcome! So next time you have a Spring Clean and go to throw something out – maybe you can send it to the Fundacion MIR instead!
