On Saturday, May 23, The Altos de Chavón School of Design will present its 25th annual student fashion show in the Salón Flamboyán at Casa de Campo’s convention center. It’s a special night, when Altos de Chavón’s Fashion students present their work to the public. This year the students are wortrackinging with the theme of the Bauhaus: bold primary colors and an homage to the Bauhaus motto that form follows function.
Nothing is timid in this thoughtful and inventive collection. The show celebrates the elegant proportions and irresistible geometry of the Bauhaus. You can expect classic cuts, simplicity, and careful attention to details.
The show marks the beginning of careers that will take these fifteen beginning fashion designers far. For the last seven months they have dedicated themselves to their designs, from idea to finished garment. Long nights reviewing fashion history, striving to develop concepts, and working on patterns and draping were their trial by fire. Now, tempered by their studies, they emerge as designers who can command respect on the runway.
If you’ve attended any of The School’s past shows, you know that they’re entertaining and full of wonderful creative energy. This year’s event will be held at 8:00 PM and will be followed by a reception where you’ll have a chance to meet the student designers. For each RD$3,000 donation you will receive a reserved seat at the show. Your contribution will go a long way toward covering the tuition and lodging cost for some of The School’s talented future designers, students of limited means but unlimited ability.

El sábado 23 de Mayo, la Escuela de Diseño de Altos de Chavón presentará el vigésimo quinto desfile anual de estudiantes de modas en el Salón Flamboyán del Centro de Convenciones de Casa de Campo. Es una noche especial, cuando los estudiantes de modas presentan al público su trabajo. Este año los estudiantes están trabajando con el tema de la Bauhaus: audaces colores primarios y un homenaje al lema de la Bauhaus en el cual la forma sigue a la función.
En esta cuidadosa e inventiva colección no hay timidez. El desfile celebra las proporciones elegantes y la geometría irresistible de la Bauhaus. Usted puede esperar cortes clásicos, simplicidad y atención cuidadosa en los detalles.
El desfile marca el inicio de las carreras que llevará lejos a estos quince nóveles diseñadores. Ellos han dedicado los pasados siete meses a sus diseños, desde la idea hasta la pieza terminada. Noches de desvelo repasando la historia de la moda, determinados a desarrollar los conceptos y trabajando en patrones y drapeados que fueron su prueba de fuego. Ahora templados por sus estudios, emergen como diseñadores que pueden exigir respeto en la pasarela.
Si usted ha asistido a alguno de los pasados desfiles sabe que son entretenidos y llenos de una maravillosa energía creativa. Este año el evento se llevará a cabo a las 8:00 p.m. seguido por una recepción donde tendrá la oportunidad de conocer a los jóvenes diseñadores. Por cada RD$3,000 pesos usted recibe un asiento reservado para el desfile. Su contribución se destina a cubrir matricula y alojamiento de los futuros talentosos diseñadores, estudiantes limitados en recursos pero no así en habilidades.
