dolphins - chavon

Did you know that a pod of dolphins actually ‘live’ in the Chavon River?

FUNDEMAR, a charity group local to Bayahibe, who work to protect our sea life, actually spent the last two years studying the movement of this pod of dolphins and they discovered that the dolphins spend the night in the Chavon river, right next to the Marina Casa de Campo, and journey to the south side of Isla Saona everyday. Who would have guessed that Casa de Campo villa owners have their own real life team of Dolphins!

FUNDEMAR located two different species in this area – one group are resident, while the other are migratory.  We are currently in contact with FUNDEMAR, to bring you more information on the dolphins and their charity, which works not only to study the dolphins, but also to protect them and other sea creatures such as turtles – more information soon!

Below is a video of the Chavon dolphins in action!
