Last Saturday the 20th of February Casa de Campo Living along with all our faithful Casa de Campo community friends enjoyed our first Chichigua Fest on the Casa de Campo polo fields. The event was an enormous success – so much so that I’ve had people begging me to repeat it soon……..

In this post I would like to thank all our wonderful sponsors who donating soo many prizes that I really had no idea what to do with them all! Below are all the prizewinners, with their winning kites and their prizes! Congratulations to everyone who won and thank you to everyone who came and supported the event!
- Fastest kite off the ground (home-made kite category) was awarded to ‘The Olivos’ team, who won a dinner for 3 at Dom Ham restaurant in La Romana. (Team photo above.) To read more about Dom Ham and it’s fantastic burgers and sausages, click here.
- Fastest kite off the ground (shop-bought kite category) was awarded to ‘La Pullua’ team, who won a dinner for 3 at Andaluz restaurant and tapas bar in La Romana. To read more about Anadaluz, (who have the BEST home-made spring rolls), click here.

3. The ‘most enthusiastic family team’ prize was awarded to the ‘Cañeros MTB’ and the extended Elmufdi family who won a gift vouchers for chocolate brownies from Bites and Pieces catering. To read more about Bites and Pieces catering, click here.
And here the Elmufdi children collect their prize, unaccompanied by their extremely enthusiastic and competitive father!
4. The ‘largest Chichigua’ prize went to the ‘Air Force Juan’ team, whose Chichigua was so huge they had to transport it to the event on their car roof! They won a box of Monetcristo cigars donated by the newly opened Casa Montecristo cigar lounge, to read more about the Casa Montecristo, click here.
5. The prize for the ‘most ambitiously designed’ kite was awarded to ‘H2’ team for their impressive box-shape design kite, the boys won a dinner for 3 at La Candelita Sushi and Burger’s in La Romana – the same people who catered during the ChiChigua Fest. 6. The prize for ‘the judge’s favorite kite’ was won by Patricia Proaño’s team – The Super Pro’s, Patricia won a Juicy Couture hair tie set from Carmen Sol New York fashion boutique in the Marina Casa de Campo. To read more about Carmen Sol, click here.
7. The prize for the ‘prettiest kite’ was won by the ‘Magdelena’s on Fire’ team, who won a dinner for 3 at Lucas restaurant in Buena Vista Norte, read our review of Lucas – click here.
8.The prize for ‘most enthusiastic mother’ was awarded to Gricelle Lahoz (who had never flown a kite before), Gricelle won a Massage at the Cygalle Healing Spa, to read more about the wonderfully luxurious spa and it’s facilities, click here.
9. The prize for ‘most co-ordinated group of kites’ was won jointly by the 3 Altos de Chavon school of design teams, who were each awarded a bottle of rain donated by Carol Trembley of the Casa Wine Shop. 10. The prize for ‘the most enthusiastic and determined’ team was won by Adrianna Jimenez and Camila Alonzo, who won a dinner for 3 at Chinois, Casa de Campo’s only Chinese restaurant, to read about their special Thai menu click here, or to read about the Chinese New Year celebration, click here.
11. The prize for ‘the most impressive home-made kite’ was a 50-minute massage at the Cygalle Healing spa and was awarded to the kite pictured below. (I apologize I do not have the name of this team!) To read more about the Cygalle Healing spa, click here.

12. The prize for the highest flying kite was awarded to 3 separate teams, because as the day progressed it became clear to me that there was no real way to judge exactly whose kite had gone the highest! The winning teams were Air Force Juan, the Cañeros MTB and the Olivos – who each won a bottle of wine (to be consumed by the parents only) donated by the Casa Wine Shop.
A number of other prizes were awarded however my very important piece of paper with all the prizes and winners seems to have gotten lost and so I am missing a few details on the rest of the prizes…..
13. A prize was awarded to the very determined father and son team pictured below – who won a round of golf for 3 people at the La Estancia Golf resort, to read more about La Estancia and it’s golf course, click here.
A further prize was awarded to the Air Force Juan team, this prize was a golf lesson for 3 people with Pierre Gagnon at La Estancia golf resort. To read more about Pierre and the new golf academy at La Estancia, click here.
The final prize was awarded to the Cañeros MTB team and this prize was a dinner for 3 at La Casita restaurant in the Marina Casa de Campo.
