On this past Thursday the 25th of February, the Altos de Chavón art gallery inaugurated it’s newest art exhibit ‘Destellos de la Memoria’ by Carlos Montesino.

Having started the evening at Phyllis Berney’s Casa de Campo Villa with a memorable cocktail, speech and book-signing with famous author and motivational speaker James Bradley, many of Casa de Campo’s villa owners then headed up to Altos de Chavón for the opening cocktail of the new art gallery exhibit by Carlos Montesino.

As always with new art exhibits you never know quiet what to expect, ahead of this art gallery opening we were told that Carlos Montesino would be presenting a collection of ‘photography, paintings and ceramics’, which is an interesting range of art forms, but doesn’t give us much idea as to what to expect! The reality of the art exhibit was very impressive, with paintings so life like it was difficult to tell them apart from the photography. The entire collection was essentially of different tropical plants, similar to palm trees, painted with such accuracy to detail and vibrant colors, looking at each piece was similar to looking out of a window.

As well as a fantastic collection of art, visitors to the inauguration of the new art exhibit were surprised by an orchestra (picture above) playing a range of string instruments. A very interesting addition to the evening!

This art exhibit will be open until the 21st of March and the art gallery is open everyday from 9pm-6pm, except Tuesdays.
