Casa de Campo's alumni reunion in South Florida, casa de campo living

Recently a group of ex-Casa de Campo residents gathered together in Boca Raton, South Florida to celebrate what they called a ‘Casa de Campo Alumni Reunion.’ All the guests of the event met and became life-long friends in Casa de Campo, and some have been friends since the 1980’s. The party was beautifully hosted by Janyce and Peter Speier. Among the guests was Papa Jack Scott – the original ‘Papa Jack’ who founded Papa Jacks bar in Altos de Chavon!

Unfortunately, almost all of the guests no longer have homes in Casa de Campo, but still feel a strong connection to the people and the place they used to call home – even after they moved on Casa de Campo has stayed in the hearts of these great friends. The only guests currently living in Casa de Campo are Leatrice and Elliot Spanierman, who returned from the D.R. just in time for the reunion. Leatrice has been an active, friendly and well-loved member of the Casa de Campo community for almost 30 years and continues to enjoy every winter season here.

Victoria Prinzi enjoying lunch with Leatrice Slote Spanierman Victoria Prinzi, the event’s coordinator, lived in Casa de Campo for 10 years from 1990 through to 2000, when her husband worked as Casa de Campo’s food and beverages manager and Victoria worked in La Romana. Victoria tells me that as she had 3 small kids during her time here, she would often organize Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving parties for the kids – just like Casa de Campo Living is doing now! The guests of the party were: Janyce and Peter Speier, with son Ryan of St. Andrews, Boca Raton Barbara and ‘Papa’ Jack Scott of Palm Beach Gardens Bill and Pauline Silvia from Fort Lauderdale Lynn Gay Humphries and Paul Bowles from Naples Victoria and Raul Prinzi of Boca Raton and the twins Alex and Leo Judy Fleischman of Palm Beach Gardens Leatrice and Elliot Spanierman of Bal Harbour The guests at the event gave us the following quotes about the party and Casa de Campo: Leatrice Slote Spanierman – «Together we are living proof that you do not have to be related by blood to be a warm, cohesive ‘family.’ It seems like we have known each other forever.So much to talk about; so few hours to say it all.» Pauline Silvia – «The CdC bond is solid and lives. We have not seen each other, some for months, years, and it was like we were all together days ago. That is the sort of comfort level that’s been established since day one, rather unique. What fun!» Judy Fleishman – «What brought us all together is the bond we all feel that comes from our days and years at CdC. It was glorious and we all feel connected.» Lynn Gay Humphries – «We have the wonderful people; that has always been Casa’s strongest suit. A great support group; I hope never to lose contact with all of you. Casa was and continues to be the best adventure of my life.» Barbara Scott – «It was a fantastic day…the attendees were in rare form; a great time was had by all. How has everyone managed to stay so young?» Janyce Speier – » We all have a piece of our hearts left somewhere together and great memories, and spectacular future connections all wonderfully linked – and those things will indeed sustain us as that great CdC family forever.» Victoria Accardi Prinzi – » Though ten years have lapsed since we moved from CdC -it may have well been only one day! Our time together, then and now has been extraordinary – and we always knew it too – didn’t we?»
