diabloEvery Sunday afternoon in February the Diablos Cojuelos hit the streets of La Vega armed with their leather balloons, smacking anyone who dares leave the sidewalk and set foot on the street. The streets are for the Diablos NOT the civilians! The Carnaval Vegano is considered by many as the best in the country and if you haven’t been you definitely must experience it at least once! The streets are filled with people partying and enjoying themselves while also admiring the beautifuls costumes from the hundreds of Diablo Cojuelos that parade along the streets of La Vega.  These elaborate costumes are simply a work of art and can cost up to RD$50,000 to manufacture. We have included some pictures that our team took this last Sunday as well as a video from the official Carnaval Vegano website. The Diablos Cojuelos will hit the streets of La Vega one last time this February 27th, Independence Day, but don’t worry… you will be able to see at least some of them in this year’s La Romana Carnival which is scheduled some time in March. As soon as we receive confirmation on the dates we will make sure to let you know. In the mean time enjoy the pictures and the video below!
