This month’s Cafe de La Leche, hosted by Saadia Rivera de Flaquer, in her elegant Casa de Campo villa was a great success, with more than 50 of Casa de Campo’s ladies showing their support for the event and thus the wonderful Hogar del Niño, which benefits tremendously from every Cafe de La Leche gathering. Very sadly, I was unable to attend this month’s gathering – I was in Santo Domingo, I got dressed, glam-ed up and ready, but the traffic leaving the city was so terrible we arrived back to Casa de Campo so late that I completly missed the party! I was all dressed up with no-where to go!

The girls having a good time: Veronica with Saadia, this month’s hostess, Elba and Sandra

Anyway, from what I hear and from what I can see from the photos, the many other ladies who did make it had an absolutely wonderful time – the Cafe de La Leche is always such fun, I always really enjoying catching up with everyone over a nice drink and a bite to eat! This month’s Cafe de La Leche was extra special as ‘fashionista’ Marc Belmonte made an appearance, dressed all in black with shiny gold tassels and accessories, Marc who has his own television show ‘Fashion Secret by Marc Belmonte’ treated everyone by sharing some of his fashion secrets. (I am very disappointed I missed that, I could certainly use some help!) CONGRATULATIONS Saadia the event looked fantastic!

The Cafe de La Leche is a monthly charity event, held for the Hogar del Niño, children’s day care centre and school, where ladies from Casa de Campo and La Romana get together over a cup of tea, wine, occasionally champagne, and a few nibbles. Each lady brings a donation of dried milk, cereals or baby formula, which is then used to feed the over 200 babies cared for in the Hogar del Niño everyday. The following photos were provided by Erika Villain – many thanks Erika, what would I do without your help!?
