Last Thursday the 3rd of June was the monthly Cafe de La Leche gathering in aid of the Fundacion MIR, which was as always spectacular – especially for me as it coincided with my last day at school!
This month’s event was held at the Casa de Campo villa of Ana Grande, who also runs «Ana’s Closet» from her villa, a mini-store selling clothes, jewelry, sun hats and purses.

As always guests of the Cafe de La Leche were asked to bring milk, cereals or baby food to be donated to the Hogar del Niño’s crib room, to feed it’s more than 200 babies – with over 50 guests at this month’s gathering a great milk supply was created.
As well as the milk donations the Hogar del Niño benefited from a donation over USD$600 from sales of clothing from «Ana’s Closet.» For the attendees of the Cafe de la Leche it was an ideal situation, shopping with friends whilst enjoying a refreshing white sangria cocktail and with the knowledge that 20% of our purchases was to be donated to the Hogar del Niño!

As well as the delicious cocktails, tempting food and great shopping, this Cafe de La Leche was also extra special as the graduating class of the Hogar del Niño were there too. The group of 7 boys and 5 girls were thrilled to join in this special fundraising event which helps the Hogar del Niño, the place which has provided them with safety, shelter, health care, education and with their graduation certificates the opportunity of a successful future.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Cafe de la Leche, it is a charitable event in aid of the Hogar del Nino, which is a children’s day care centre in the town of La Romana, which cares for over 1,500 children ever day.
