Cafe de la Leche: Friday April 1st

It’s nearly Cafe de la Leche time again! April’s Cafe de la Leche is scheduled to take place on Friday the 1st of April – a great, fun and charitable way to celebrate the beginning of a new month!This Cafe de la Leche gathering will be hosted by Isabel Purcell in her Casa de Campo villa, Golf Villa #203 and will begin at 5pm.

The Cafe de la Leche is a monthly charitable event, a little like a coffee or a tea party held for the ladies of Casa de Campo (although men are occasionally invited) to boost the milk supplies of the Hogar del Niño – which uses the milk to feed the more than 200 babies cared for daily in it’s crib room. Everyone is welcome to attend this great event, it’s totally free – you are just requested to bring some dried/powdered milk, cereals or baby formula to contribute.

Never been to a Cafe de la Leche? Here’s what to expect:
1.  A light food buffet
2. A selection of drinks/refreshments
3. A nice group of ladies (normally about 50, sometimes more than 100 depending on the season)
4. Dress Code: there isn’t a dress code, but as this is Casa de Campo and everyone likes to dress up, you will find people wearing anything from white jeans and a top/blouse to a pretty day dress and sandals.
5. Mosquitos: The Cafe de la Leche takes place from 5pm to 7pm, which is about sunset and so is when there are most mosquitos about….it’s not a big problem at all, but if like me Mosquitos love to bite you, you might want to have some repellent in your bag!
6. Your contribution: ‘Dried baby milk’ comes in many different brands – don’t worry about which one you get, all different brands are gladly excepted! Just drop you contribution at the door as you go in – you won’t be able to miss the pile of milk at the entrance!
7. Have a good time – even if you don’t know anyone, everyone is very friendly and people generally speak a range of different languages!
