On Tuesday the 12th of April, film producer and Casa de Campo villa owner, Sergio Gobbi and his wife, Corinne hosted a private screening of the French motion picture ‘Affaires Étrangeres Cambodge’ for their Casa de Campo friends.

The screening took place at the Marina Casa de Campo cinema at 7pm, when Sergio and Corrinne’s glamorous guests dressed as if for a red carpet event, took their seats in anticipation of the show! Many guests having already enjoyed the first ‘Affaires Étrangeres’ which was filmed here in the Dominican Republic and partly in Casa de Campo, at a private screening back in January 2010, knew to expect an exciting, fast-paced action adventure story and we were not disappointed!

Set in mystical Cambodia, the film’s main character David Mercier, played by actor Bernard Yerlès heads to Phnom Penh, the Mekong and the Cambodian jungle to flush out an internationally known thief who just killed an archaeologist in Corsica and stole a priceless artifact. The scenery and setting is breathtaking, with action scenes taking place on the dirty bustling streets of Cambodia’s capital city Phnom Penh, whilst also incorporating the glorious ruins of Ankar Wat in the Cambodian jungle. The storyline is fast paced, with many twists and turns, this movie is not cliché at all, when the main character is shot within the first 10 minutes, you know you’re in for something unusual!

‘Affaires Étrangeres Cambodge’, is the third of the ‘Affaires Étrangeres’ series and was produced by ‘Les Films de l’Arstre.’ The first episode of the series was Affaires Étrangeres, Republic Dominicaine and the second was Affaires Étrangeres, Moroc.

Sergio Gobbi and his wife Corinne are friendly, fun members of the Casa de Campo community, but in doing a little bit of research about ‘Affaires Étrangeres’, I have found that Sergio is a film producer as well as a film writer and director. In fact Sergio started his long career in the film industry back in 1958 as an actor and in 1961 directed and wrote his first movie ‘L’Espace d’un matin. Since then Sergio has acted in 4 movies, written 28, directed 21 and produced 22!

Really very impressive. Congratulations Sergio!

Following the showing, Sergio and Corinne’s guests were treated to a buffet dinner at the Casa de Campo Yacht Club, an event which had been put together by party planning company Eventos x3, and it was stunning. The inside of the Yacht Club had been completely transformed with an enormous buffet spread in the centre of the room, exquisitely decorated with exotic flowers and bamboo – a theme which continued throughout the party area with elaborate centre pieces.

Relaxing at the end of a successful night

It was a fantastic night. The Gobbi’s really know how to have fun and how to throw a great party! Thank for inviting us, Sergio and Corinne!
