The highly anticipated 43rd edition of the prestigious International Tennis Tournament «Copa Casa de Campo» is set to kick off this Thursday, July 20 at 9 am at the La Terraza Tennis Center, located in Casa de Campo, Resort & Villas, La Romana.

This year’s event will see more than 150 players from various countries, including Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Spain, Italy, the United States (representing New York and Miami), Argentina, Mexico, and the host country, the Dominican Republic, compete for glory and honor.

The tournament will feature players over 21, participating in the Open, A, B, C, D, A senior, and B senior categories for both men’s singles and doubles. Female players will also showcase their skills in singles and doubles matches in the A, B, C, and D categories. Notably, mixed doubles matches will also take place in various categories.

Inaugural Ceremony

The inaugural ceremony will occur on Friday, July 21 at 6 pm at La Terraza Tennis Center, with warm greetings from the master of ceremonies. The spotlight will shine on the young ball boys and girls (boleritos), who will line up on the central court.

In a display of camaraderie and unity, the national anthem will be proudly played as the flags of each participating country are hoisted high.

Matías Territoriale, the director of Tennis at La Terraza Tennis Center, will introduce the Grand Cup, to be fiercely contested in the men’s Open category, which Andrés Pichardo, the president of Casa de Campo, will graciously receive.

Following this, Pichardo will deliver the ceremony’s keynote speech, followed by an honorable serve that will mark the tournament’s official opening.

A long-standing tradition, the esteemed tournament is proudly sponsored by the Central Romana Corporation, Casa de Campo Resort & Villas, Barcelo, BM Cargo, Higueral, Mercedes Benz, among others.

Schedule of events

The first singles matches will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 20.

Singles matches will continue on Friday and Saturday, and doubles matches will begin. The finals in both categories will be held on Sunday, July 23, starting at 9:00 a.m.

The award ceremony and tournament closing will occur on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

There is also a cocktail reception and dance party scheduled for Saturday night, the cost of which is included in the tournament registration.
