Last Wednesday the 29th of December, 2010 the annual Cartier Benefit Event in aid of the Fundacion MIR and the Hogar del Niño was celebrated and very much enjoyed by the Casa de Campo community at Casa Grande in Casa de Campo. The event, hosted annually by Pepe and Emilia Fanjul is a fundraising event open to everyone and this year was very well attended by more than 200 Casa de Campo villa owners, residents and guests who spent a very pleasant evening enjoying a beautiful evening in the exquisite Casa Grande, sipping Dom Pérignon champagne, taking part in the raffle, the silent auction and the live auction – all in aid of the MIR Charities and the Hogar del Niño! Following cocktails, and plenty of time to peruse and bid on the silent auction (this year I ‘won’ a pair of Juicy Couture sunglasses), guests were invited to enjoy a wonderful dinner and continue savouring the champagne whilst the raffle and live auction took place. The live auction, for which Pepe Fanjul was the auctioneer, included some very interesting, expensive and beautiful items – many donated by generous members of the Casa de Campo community. Items included a Cartier Love Bracelet (value: USD$4,300), a 10-day vacation in Italy (value: USD$25,000), a South American Cruise (value: USD$10,000), a Teheran Rug from North Persia (value: USD$2,900) and so many more items – many holidays and trips, which were all ‘won’ by generous and skilled bidders during the dinner. The event was a huge success, which by my estimates must have raised at least several hundred thousand dollars for the Fundacion MIR and the Hogar del Niño. Cheers to a great evening supporting 2 wonderful charities!
