Duran Duran the English “new wave” band, considered to be one of the most successful band of the 1980’s are (we believe) coming to Altos de Chavón!

*UPDATE* This ‘rumor’ has now been confirmed!

Whilst we have NOT received any official confirmation from Casa de Campo on the topic, we have done a little research and found the concert announced on several Duran Duran websites, including Uepa, who are already selling tickets – which tends to suggest they really are coming (weather permitting of course!)

According to the Duran Duran website the concert in Altos de Chavón is scheduled to take place on Saturday April 30th, with tickets prices starting at RD$1,500 for general entry, RD$3,000 for VIP and RD$5,000 for Special Guest.

The Duran Duran concert will be part of their ‘All You Need Is Now’ tour, to promote their 13th studio album ‘All You Need is Now’, which has literally just been released and features Duran Duran’s newest songs, such as ‘All You Need is Now’, “Safe (In the Heat of the Moment)” and “Runway Runaway” all of which can be loosely described as ‘electro-rock.’

Here is a video of their  ‘All You Need Is Now’ song – to get you in the mood or to familiarize yourself with who they are / what kind of music they play!!

Who are Duran Duran?

Duran Duran are an English ‘electro-rock’ or ‘new wave’ band formed in the 1970’s in Birmingham. Here you can read a little more about them:

They were one of the most successful bands of the 1980s and a leading band in the MTV-driven “Second British Invasion” of the United States. Since the 1980s, they have placed 14 singles in the Top 10 of the UK Singles Chart and 21 in the Billboard Hot 100 and have, according to the Sunday Mercury, sold more than 100 million records.[7][8] While they were generally considered part of the New Romantic scene along with bands such as Spandau Ballet when they first emerged, they later shed this image.
The group was formed by Nick RhodesJohn Taylor and Stephen Duffy, with the later addition of Roger Taylor and, after numerous personnel changes, Andy Taylor and Simon Le Bon. (None of the Taylors are related.) The group has never disbanded, but the lineup has changed to include guitarist Warren Cuccurullo from 1989 to 2000 and drummer Sterling Campbell from 1989 to 1991.
