The Rolex Farr 40 regatta started last week on Wednesday the 21st of April and brought the Marina Casa de Campo to life every afternoon with after-race cocktails for the sailors and Casa de Campo residents who just happened to be passing by…
The Rolex Farr 40 village was located on the Paseo del Mar (the pier leading to the victory club) in the Marina Casa de Campo, starting just after the La Piazetta restaurant.
Each day 3 regattas were scheduled to take place and so at the after-race cocktail parties in between the drinking and socialising, awards were handed out to the winner’s of that day’s racing.
On Friday the 23rd of April, Land Rover, one of the main sponsors of the event (after Rolex of course) hosted the after-race cocktail, because that day was the Land Rover race day. They turned the main area into a Land Rover lounge, beautifully adorned with flowers and modern white furniture. Daiquri’s made with Grey Goose vodka were on offer (and being very much enjoyed) a DJ was playing music that was so great we almost fainted and the perfect weather, the beautiful set up and the glamour of the event combined to create the perfect atmosphere.
Unfortunately, the sailors was conspicuously absent – due to bad sailing conditions the day before, they were forced to run more regattas than planned that day and so instead of arriving back at 4pm, the sailors arrived back windswept and no doubt exhausted at 7pm, as the sun was going down.
As you can imagine the many people who had arrived at 4pm to see the return of the fleet, following 3 hours of Daiquiri or vodka martini drinking greeted the sailors very merrily on their return!
Here are a selection of photos of the fleet as they arrived back into the Marina Casa de Campo:
