On Thursday the 24th of February, Phyllis Berney cordially invites you to a cocktail in honor of James Bradley, renowned historical author and motivational speaker.

Everyone is welcome to attend the event, which will take place from 6-9pm at Phyllis’ Casa de Campo home, Barranca Este #66 and will begin with welcome cocktails before James Bradley will speak at 7.15pm on on his latest book, which was published in 2009, “The Imperial Cruise.”

This great event, being organised by Phyllis is completely free, however Phyllis is hoping to raise money for the Hogar del Niño Scholarship fund, which is currently funding the education of  18 young people, at a cost of USD$5,000 per year per university student and USD$2,500 per vocational student, so with plans and hopes to help even more, every penny helps! To lend his support, James Bradley, after his speech will be autographing his books and selling them – with 20% being donated directly to the Hogar del Niño’s Scholarship Fund AND generous Hogar del Niño supporters Barbara and Donald Jonas will be matching all donations 100%. Which basically means for every book sold, 40% of the book price will go to Scholarship fund – 20% from the book and a matching 20% from Barbara and Donald. Also making incredibly generous donations are Joyce Berman who has given $10,000 in honor of her husband Stanley and Ruth and Jerry Siegel who have also donated $10,000 to the scholarship fund.

Not only will this be a unique, interesting and different event, in one of Casa de Campo’s most beautiful villas, it is also another great opportunity to lend a helping hand towards the education of La Romana’s bright young minds!

6-9pm, Thursday the 24th of February at Barranca Este #66!

About James Bradley

James Bradley (born 1954) is an American author, specializing in historical nonfiction chronicling the Pacific theatre of World War II. James Bradley has published 3 books; Flags of Our Fathers, Flyboys: A True Story of Courage and The Imperial Cruise. Flags of Our Fathers was his first book, published in 2000, spent 46 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and was made into a film directed by Clint Eastwood.

The Imperial Cruise, about which Bradley will be speaking concerns the 1905 diplomatic mission led by then-Secretary of War William Howard Taft and Alice Roosevelt, as well as the larger implications of President Theodore Roosevelt‘s foreign policy, particularly with regard to Japan.

Flyboys: A True Story of Courage is the story of 9 American airmen who were shot down in the Pacific in World War 2, among them was George H.W Bush (senior) who was miraculously rescued!

James Bradley is also a very successful motivational speaker, who gets between $20,000 and $ 30,000 to talk about how to accomplish the most from your life.
