Nope, this is not another one of my April fools jokes, Casa de Campo has actually opened a Motorcross (MX) track!
Motorcross or MX for short is a type of motorcycle sport, using special motorcross bikes, otherwise known as dirt bikes. Usually competitors race around a specially made track, with several obstacles; ditches, jumps, bumps and lots of dirt!
According to my source, Luis Morato-Dickson, who himself is a passionate and skilled MX rider, the MX track, has just recently been built by Luis Emilio Rodriquez and is being regulated by Costasur. It is located next to the road, which construction workers and trucks use to come in and out of Casa de Campo – the long road straight from Altos de Chavón.
Motorcross has been a popular sport amongst Casa de Campo’s youngsters for at least a year and has been getting progressively more and more popular and up until now, the problem has been that fans of MX have not had anywhere to ride their bikes – its great news that now there is somewhere fun for them to go. According to Luis, the track is currently open to everyone to use and enjoy – there are no age limits and there is nothing to pay.
Of course, as the track has only recently opened, we do not yet know how it will be managed and it is expected that in the future, a fee may be enforced to use the track.
As soon as we know more, we’ll let you know! In the meantime, here are some photos of Luis Morato-Dickson and his friends letting rip on the new track!
