This weekend nearly everyone in Casa de Campo in one way or another took part in the Hogar del Niño weekend festivities, among the many events which took place was the Hogar del Niño Golf Tournament which was played on the La Romana Country Club golf course.
Casa de Campo Living (i.e. me) got a little confused over times and so we unfortunately missed the tennis tournament – but arrived in plenty of time to photograph the golf tournament as it got underway!
The first exciting event was the ‘ball drop’ which happened at 1.30pm SHARP, when a helicopter took off from the side of the driving range at the La Romana Country Club and hurled literally hundreds of balls to the ground – aiming to get at least one in the hole! This year 2 balls actually went in the hole and so the jackpot of $900 was divided between …… and …… who then both donated their winnings back to the Hogar del Niño!
Here is the helicopter and ball drop taking place:
Following the ‘ball drop’ the 190 golfers took off around the golf course to start the tournament, which was played in the form of a ‘scramble.’ And so as the golfers scattered, each to begin on a different hole, me and the CasaLife photographer followed in hot pursuit to photograph all the action!
The results of the golf tournament were as follows:
3rd Place (Net 45)
Kalil Hache
Homero Savinon
Miguel Flaquer
Tom Wahl
Runner-Up (Net 45 / 56 Gross)
Guillermo Quirch
Anders Angulo
Juan Gutierrez
Jimmy Granger
Champion (Net 44)

Congratulations to all the winners and of course to everyone who took part!
