Casa de Campo Living’s first annual ChiChigua Fest is taking place next Saturday the 20th of February from 2pm on the Casa de Campo polo fields! We’ve already organised a BBQ, drinks and lots of great prizes for the ChiChigua competitions so if you want to take part – REGISTER NOW!!
Our ChiChigua Fest is for EVERYONE – and even if you don’t like flying kites you’re more than welcome to come along and enjoy the BBQ, sun, drinks and the party atmosphere….
What is the event about?
The event is essentially a ‘ChiChigua‘ or kite flying festival! There will be a number of ChiChigua contests (details below) as well as an area to fly kites (separate from the contests), a BBQ and bar with a seating area to watch the kite flying or just to socialise and have fun!

The ChiChigua Contests
Throughout the day there will be several contests, which every registered team (made up of a maximum of 3 people) will be eligible to compete in, these will be as follows:
1. The first ChiChigua in the air
This will be the MAIN contest – a race, whichever team gets the ChiChigua in the air and flying first wins!
There will be separate contests for home-made and shop-bought kites, and the contest will then be divided into 3 categories, the winning team from each category will win a prize. Categories as follows:
- Adult only – teams consisting of up to 3 adults
- Mix – teams consisting of a mixture of adults and children*
- Children only – teams consisting of up to 3 children*
*Children – UNDER 15 years old
2. The BEST home-made ChiChigua
A prize will be awarded to the best OVERALL homemade kite, taking into account factors such as flying ability, speed to get in the air, design, size and any other special features.
3. The most beautiful/well decorated home-made ChiChigua
We would like to encourage everyone to decorate their ChiChiguas with many colors, patterns, ribbons, in any way you can and we will award a prize to the most beautiful ChiChigua!
4. The most inventive/creative home-made ChiChigua
There is of course a standard formula and art to creating a ChiChigua, but every ChiChigua is different and there are an infinite number of ways to design and build ChiChiguas, we will be awarding a prize for the most inventive ChiChigua design.
We have MANY prizes to give away so there may be more contests on the day….

The Prizes
We have not yet decided which prizes will be awarded for which contest, however the prizes will be as follows:
(most prizes are for 3 people as each ChiChigua team is of a maximum of 3 people)
- Dinner for 3 at Dom Ham, La Romana’s best burger restaurant! Donated by Carlitos Pichardo, owner and creator of Dom Ham.
- 3 x 50-minute massage at the Cygalle Healing Spa including 30-minutes in the Water Ritual Room donated by Pilar Rosario, spa manager.
- 3 x 30-minute massage at the Cygalle Healing Spa including 30-minutes in the Water Ritual Room donated by Pilar Rosario, spa manager.
- Round of golf at La Estancia golf course for 3 people, including 3xgreen fee and golf cart fee donated by La Estancia golf resort
- 1 hour golf lesson for 3 people donated by Pierre Gagnon, golf professional at the La Estancia golf resort.
- Dinner for 3 people at Chinois restaurant in the Marina Casa de Campo donated by Susana Joa, owner of Chinois
- 1 x box of wine donated by the Casa Wine Shop
- 3 x boxes of cigars donated by the Casa Montecristo cigar lounge in Altos de Chavon
- 1 x Juicy Couture hair tie donated by Carmen Sol New York boutique store in the Marina Casa de Campo
- Dinner for 3 people at the popular Lucas restaurant in Buena Vista Norte. Donated by Lisa Perrone.
