On Saturday the 19th of December, three generations of Lincoln Lions football players and numerous fans, will gather at the Abraham Lincoln School football pitch for the 2nd Annual Lincoln Lions meeting. The event, which is being organised by Francisco Ubiera will take place between 12.00 and 18.30 and will involve a tournament between three generations of Lincoln Lions players, making three teams – the present Lincoln Lion team members, the recent leavers and the old leavers.
Last year was the first time this tournament took place and it was a huge success, with lots of current Abraham Lincoln pupils and many more ‘old’ pupils there having a great time catching up and of course playing and watching the football. Last year the ‘recent leavers’ team won.
To play in the tournament each player is being asked to pay 100 pesos and all the money raised will be donated to the Orfanato in La Romana! The organisers told us that they want to raise money for the Orfanato to wish all the children a very merry Christmas and so if anyone else – spectators, players or parents would like to donate any money or unwanted toys, books or other gifts they will be very gratefully received!
As well as the boy’s matches there will also be a girl’s match between the present Lincoln Lionesses and the Old Lionesses, which should be equally exciting!
EVERYONE is welcome to watch and show your support to the players and to raise money for the Orafanto!
Remember: Solo puede haber un REY!!!
